Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?
No. Claudia has no accounts, no sign-up, and no login. Open the app and go.
Does my data leave my phone?
Only when you send it to the AI provider you chose with your own key. The message you send goes directly from your device to that provider — Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI, Groq, Cerebras, or OpenRouter, whichever one you configured. There is no PrentusAI server in that path. Everything else — your chat history, memory, notes — stays on your device in encrypted storage.
How do I add my API key?
Open the app, then go to Settings → API Keys. Tap the provider you want to use and paste your key. Claudia stores it in encrypted local storage — it never leaves your device except as part of authenticated requests to that provider.
Which providers does Claudia support?
Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google Gemini, xAI (Grok), Groq, Cerebras, and OpenRouter. You can add keys for as many or as few as you like and switch between them in the app. Full details on what data each provider receives are on the AI Services and Data Providers page.
Can I use Claudia without an API key?
AI chat requires a key — without one, Claudia has no model to send your message to. However, device voice (using iOS's built-in text-to-speech) works without any key. You only need ElevenLabs for the premium voice option.
How is the ElevenLabs voice billed?
ElevenLabs bills you directly based on your usage under the plan you have with them. Claudia takes no cut and adds no markup. Add your ElevenLabs key in Settings → API Keys to activate it.
How do I delete my data?
Go to Settings → Privacy & Memory → Reset. This clears your on-device chat history, memory facts, and stored API keys in one tap. Data you have already sent to a provider is subject to that provider's own retention and deletion policy — contact them directly to exercise deletion rights there.

Troubleshooting quick-checks

AI responses are failing or slow: check that the API key you entered is active and has available credits at the provider's dashboard. Claudia cannot make requests on your behalf without a valid key.

Voice isn't working: confirm iOS Settings → Claudia has microphone permission enabled. For ElevenLabs voice, confirm your ElevenLabs key is entered in Settings → API Keys.

The app is giving an unexpected answer: AI models make mistakes. For anything important, verify against a primary source.

You need to start fresh: Settings → Privacy & Memory → Reset wipes everything local.
